Equipment

  • 1 Wok or large skillet
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Strainer to drain the cooked noodles

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cooked egg noodles a type of lo mein/chow mein noodle
  • 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup of shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of boiled garlic puree minced is also fine
  • 3/4 fl. oz of vegetarian stir fry sauce Yard House uses Lee Kum Kee brand
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan
  • 12 chive batons

Instructions

  • First, cook the noodles for 3 minutes according to the package instructions. This pre-cooks them. Let the noodles cool completely after cooking. Pre-cooking allows you to store the noodles for later use.
  • When ready to make the full dish, place the cooled, pre-cooked noodles into a bowl of hot water for 30 seconds to reheat them. This will ensure they are hot and ready to absorb the garlic sauce.
  • Heat a large skillet or wok on high heat. When hot, add the butter and let it melt completely so it coats the bottom of the pan.
  • Once the butter has melted, add the mushrooms to the hot skillet/wok. Saute the mushrooms, stirring frequently, until they are lightly browned.
  • Next, pour the honey, garlic, and stir-fry sauce, tossing everything together so the mushrooms are well coated. Let it heat through.
  • Drain the just-reheated noodles briefly to remove excess water. Add the drained noodles to the skillet/wok and toss thoroughly with the mushrooms and sauce, ensuring everything is combined.
  • Transfer the noodle mixture to serving plates. Garnish with freshly grated parmesan cheese and chopped chives. Enjoy immediately!
