Equipment

  • Boiler
  • Grater
  • Oven
  • Oven mitts
  • Saucepan
  • Spatula
  • Bowl
  • Baking Dish

Ingredients

  • 8 Medium Potatoes
  • ½ Chopped Onions
  • ½ cup Butter
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 ½ cups Sour Cream
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Pepper
  • ½ tsp Paprika
  • 3 tbsp Butter

Instructions

  • Boil the potatoes in water and prepare them for the next step. You can also boil the potatoes with their skin on and then peel the skin after the potatoes are boiled. Allow it to cool down before one can actually touch the potatoes.
  • After boiling the potatoes, take a bowl and grate them. You can also shred the potatoes as you do while making hash browns.
  • Preheat the oven to a decent temperature to bake. Heat the oven to 350 degrees to ensure that by the time you place the baking dish inside, the insides are already hot.
  • Additionally, take a baking dish and apply cooking spray to it. You can also butter the sides with your hands.
  • Now that the baking environment is in progress, you can proceed to make the primary mix. In a saucepan, toss ½ cup butter and wait for it to melt properly. Add the previously grated cheese to the butter and keep stirring.
  • Gradually add the sour cream, chopped onions, salt, and pepper to the butter mix. Remember to keep stirring the whole time for the ingredients to mix well together.
  • Add the butter mix to the grated or shredded potatoes. Mix well so that the blend is even and the taste is spread all through the potatoes.
  • Your mix is ready and now is the time to load the baking pan. On the prepared baking pan, toss the potato mixture and spread it evenly. Add the remaining 3 tbsp of butter on top and sprinkle the paprika. Make sure to give an even coating to the potato mix.
  • After coating with butter, place the baking dish inside the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes at 350 degrees. When you see the bubbles forming and the potato has turned golden brown, you can stop the baking.
  • Your gourmet potatoes recipe’s done. You can serve it hot and enjoy the cheesy filling inside. Try garnishing with some chopped cilantro for an additional kick.
